Ep. 8 - Three Years Later

This week's episode opens with Locke heading down the well.

After the Flash we see the Losties left behind discover briefly that they are in the distant past with... tah dah!... the first glimpse of the giant four toed-statue, but only from behind and from a distance. We see that it seems to have long hair and pointy ears, resembling something from ancient Egypt?

Then, with Locke's turn of the wheel, it's gone. And the Losties are stuck in 1974.

We see a couple of young Dharma initiates having a good ole time (can you say pot brownies?) with one of them seemingly having brought in his off-island girl friend.

Jimmy from Mad Men shows up and when they discover that their leader Horace is out in the fields drunk with dynamite they run off to tell Mr. LaFleur... who turns out to be... Sawyer! Head of security of course!

So, as we all surmised, our Losties integrated with the Dharma initiative after they realized they were stuck in the past.

Daniel is despondent about Charlotte dying and her body disappearing. Mumbling, "I'm not going to tell her," presumably meaning he's not going to tell her not to come back because she's going to die.

They come across Dharmies being accosted by OGOs (original Others)
Miles: We're not to get involved, right?
Daniel: It doesn't matter, whatever happened, happened.
Sawyer: Thanks anyway Plato, I'm going anyway.

Great shot of Juliette after she shoots one of the OGOs.

I loved Sawyer's line, "It'll be on the cocoanut telegraph by breakfast." How very Giligan's Island of you.

We discover that the Dharmies have a truce with the OGOs.

We also learn that the Dharmies have a submarine that goes freely off the island.

When Amy the Dharmy goes into labor, we discover that Juliette is now an auto mechanic. Sawyer makes her do the Caesarian section... I hope she washed her hands first.

After three years of intergrating, did our Losties investigate any of the Stations? If not, why? They could've discovered something about what is really going on.

Amy has a boy, who will it turn out to be?

Sawyer spins the story about how they got to the Island to Horace, great tie in with the Black Rock.

Horace, "You aren't Dharma material." Why?

Jin's English is pretty good, he sure learned fast.

I loved the merry go round shot of the Losties at the table as Daniel tells them, "The record is spinning again, we're just not on the song we want to be on."

Oh, look it's Charlotte as a little girl, still as cute.

Richard Alpert makes an appearance, looking for retribution for the death of his two men.
He says, "The fence may keep other things out, but not us." I believe he would be talking about our friend the Smoke Monster?

Sawyer refers to Alpert as, " Your buddy with the eyeliner." Great shout out to Nestor Carbonell and the whole debate about makeup or not. I'm sure he loved that.

Anyone else think that the actor playing the dead Paul is E from Entourage?

He had an Ankh... a connection to our Egyptian statue at the beginning?

Why did the OGOs need to take his body? Creepy a bit.

So after three years Sawyer and Juliette fall in love. Sawyer tells Horace he can't even remember Kate's face... and then the phone rings.

The looks on their faces when Kate steps off the bus, priceless.

Now that the O6 have re-united with the Losties in 1974 where are they going to go?

Ben is going to wake up soon and Locke will want to give him a beat down, making him show them how to get back to the future.

Out there are Penny and Des and Charles Widmore, who will be the difference maker?

Until next time...
