Before we get to the new episode, I wanted to mention a few things about Ep. 1:
What is Faraday’s instrument? (to determine their place in time) That thing looks awesome, but how does he read it? It's nice to see that the writers are making him a key element to the story.
The music when Hurley walked into the convenience store to buy the Shih Tsu shirt was “The Dream Police” by Cheap Trick. Hmmm, all this talk of time travel and memories vs. dreams makes me think this whole experience is in a collective unconscious.
Event Window = Island will be stable enough to find for 70 hours otherwise it’ll be gone forever?
(because someone in a coma will die in three days? more on that later)
Ep. 2 – Thoughts and theories
Penny has a boy (we find out later they named him Charlie, a very sweet moment)
Nice POV shot from the girl’s rifle. Who is that girl anyway?
To Faraday: “You just couldn’t stay away.” Faraday has been to island before. Methinks he’s been time traveling a while now. He was an original Other that learned of the Island’s special properties and was banished or got left behind when it moved previously?
The Others know Latin, as does Juliette. Secret languages are always an intriguing mystique.
1 soldier dead from radiation poisoning… can you say atomic testing?
We see early Other settlers …Hello Richard. Juliette tells us, “He’s always been here.”
I liked the music when Des was in the physics lab at Oxford
Faraday experimented on a student/his girlfriend with time travel (he tried it on rat’s brains too)… so he experimented on people, theorizing they could experience time travel without actually leaving the present? [that's what's happening ... they are all in a group experiment and when one leaves, it messes with the whole deal?]
Faraday is in love with Charlotte… who wouldn’t be? She gets my vote for prettiest Islander. (what you don't know about me is I have a thing for red heads)
Wow! What kind of man breaks his friend’s neck? (Oh, that man would be Charles Widmore.)
Locke is becoming an Other. Even though he didn’t know that was Widmore, he didn’t kill him. What would happen if you killed someone in the past after the future has already taken place? Man that would really F up the space time continuum. Yikes, where’s Doc Brown?
Widmore funded Faraday’s research to find a way back to the Island. But how did Widmore get the boot from the Island? Stay tuned, dear readers we will soon find out.
Faraday left the girl in a coma. Whoa, that’s not cool at all dude.

Bomb hanging called ‘Jughead’… a special meaning or just a reference to the comic book of the 50s?
The agro soldier turns out to be Charles Widmore… now there’s a surprise… NOT!
It’s nice that they’re tying shit up quicker these days. A few seasons ago, they would’ve dragged that out for weeks.
So it’s 1954, the U.S. army has been doing H Bomb testing on this remote island in the South Pacific. Faraday realizes that they need to bury the bomb in a lot of cement (which is what Sayid mentioned when they first went into the Hatch) However, is the bomb the source of the unlimited energy that “Candle/Wax” refers to in Ep. 1?
We see Locke tell Richard to come and visit him when he’s a little boy, thus affecting a future event after it has already taken place.
We realize that Others have been living on the Island for a long time… perhaps as far back as the Black Rock?
Charlotte collapses… oh no! If Charlotte is Faraday’s mother, “God help us all.”
I still think there is something going on here outside of all of them, like they are all books in a library or characters in some bigger story.
What cannot function without all it’s parts?
They need to get Locke back to the Island because he is a savior? But Claire said, “Don’t you dare bring him back.” I agree with others that she was referring to Locke and not Aaron. Ben and the mystery lady and the meat shop lady all have some sinister plan to convince the O6 that they need to get back to the Island, but perhaps it is all a ruse for some other plot of theirs.
Richard told Locke that he would need to die to get the O6 back. Presumably because his resurrection will convince everyone of the Island’s special properties… since no one knows he was a cripple before he got on the plane and I don’t think anyone knows that Rose had Cancer.
We will see.

Ep. 1 - "God Help Us All"
LOST Season 5 Premiere Episode Review
Intro:
This season, I will be recapping each episode and handing out awards each week in different categories.
Such categories might include: Best Line, Funniest Moment, Best Musical Cue, Best Fight, Performance of the Week and Best Shot.
I look forward to discussing theories and making predictions.
So here we go... ladies and gentleman I give you Episode One of Season Five of Lost on ABC:
The episode opens with a shot of a clock that turns to 815 (the flight number, how cute)...
The record skips... foreshadowing, anyone?
It is revealed that the man to be known as Halliwax,(the man in the Dharma station information videos, which they are shooting, presumably back in the early 80s or late 70s ) introduces himself as Marvin Candle.

Key Fact: The island possesses a pocket of limitless energy
The rules can't be broken (in regards to manipulating time)
Candle says if the energy is released, "God help us all."
We see Daniel Faraday, known to us in the present... so was he there originally or is he traveling back in time?
Thank Christ they got rid of Jack's horrible beard quickly.
So, everyone will die if the O6 doesn't go back to the island... why?
We see Locke move back in time, but by himself... why does everyone else move together?
Looking back on when Ben turned the wheel, we now realize that the island folks went back in time, but apparently he went to the future where he landed in Tunisia.
What is the wheel connected to... it could be a metaphor for a body part, as if they are inside someone's mind. The island flashing, like eyes blinking?
Faraday, "We have no time"
Someone find out for me which orchestra is used for the music. I always give great kudos to Michael Giacchino. (oh, it's the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra, thank you Wikipedia)
I know, I know the ladies loved Sawyer running around shirtless for the first few scenes. I found it funny that he kept trying to get a shirt from someone.
Sawyer's back, "Shut it, Ginger or you'll get one too."
So the Island is dislodged from time. Either the island is moving or the people are moving back and forth.
The Island is a bit of a giant magnet, pulling down two planes and a boat (the black rock will come back to importance)
Did anyone ever see Time Bandits, I'm thinking more and more about that map.
Locke runs into Ethan but it is unclear how much in the past it is.
We see that Sun and Widmore are up to something, namely plotting to kill Ben.
It's been twenty years since Widmore was on the Island previously, what happened there?
Who is Widmore, really?
I like the pairing of Hurley and Sayid.
Sayid is all business. Tells Hurley to do the opposite of anything Ben ever tells him.
Sayid putting that guy on the knives in the dishwasher! Dang, that was hard core.
So apparently ever since the O6 left, the Losties on the Island can't stop from moving back and forth in time. But why?
Richard is the Island's Constant. He keeps coming back because the Island keeps him perpetually young.
The Island heals...Locke's wounds, Rose's cancer etc. it is also a place for redemption from their sins. If they choose, they could live the rest of their lives on the Island in peace.
Desmond pushing the button was saving the world. But that was coming from Juliette, so... speaking of Juliette I like her laid back 'tude so far.
Faraday, "You can't change the past!" yet they travel to the past.
Someone find me still shots of the pages of Faraday's book.
What did he read to make him react that way. He is one of the keys to this whole thing. Locke being the other. But in many ways they are all keys, because without them all together everything will disappear. It's as if someone is playing a game with pieces missing... the game won't work right until all the pieces are on the board.
Why don't the rules apply to Desmond? Time travel doesn't affect him the same, he sees things as real memories, not dreams. like somekind of special game piece.
Who is Faraday's mother? (keep your eye out for the lady in the hood with the pendulum)
There are rumblings that Charlotte (the red head scientist may be related to Faraday, some even are suggesting that she is his mother from the past)
Penny, "There's no calling off my father." He the devil or something?
Welcome back Michelle Rodriguez! She looks great, doesn't she?
Ana Lucia, "Libby says hi." Messages from the beyond. Hurley sees dead people.
Sawyer calls Neil "Frogurt."
Is Sawyer, the new Jack?
What was Ben hiding in the vent? Looked like an oversized book... a bible perhaps. The book of rules to whatever game they're playing.
Hurley wearing the I Love My Shih Tsu tee shirt... hilarious!
Ben says if they make it back to the island they will never come back to present day LA.
Who is Jill and how does she know Locke and Ben?
Ben still lies to everyone.
Neil takes a flaming arrow to the chest, harsh!
Mrs. Reyes, "Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?"
Hurley, "He's not dead."
So funny. I love the fact he doesn't correct her about Sayid being Iraqi.
Aaron is the other key. The mystery men don't care about the lie, but they want Aaron. There's a bunch of familial connections going on here. Whidmore, Penny, Jack, Aaron, Claire, Faraday, Charlotte... very biblical.
Sun gets to Kate to get to Jack to get to Ben.
Locke appears out of the forest as their saviour.
Ben has 70 hours to get the whole crew back to the island... that's less than three days. Hmm, what else happened in three days... someone we know came back from the dead I think.
Can you say Locke is Christ?
Because if he doesn't come back, "God Help us All."
The theme of this season's LOST will be the necessity of the return to the Island by the Oceanic 6 plus Benjamin Linus.
The question's are: Why is it that the Island is Skipping back and Forth through Time Without Them? and What Happens to the Losties stuck back on the Island While They're gone.
It seems as if everyone everwhere will die if those seven people don't get back to the Island before Widmore gets control of it.
The Island represents something... which is not whole without those six people. Like a body missing vital organs. Or a machine missing key parts.
Funniest Moment:
Mrs. Reyes, "Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?"
Hurley, "He's not dead."
So funny. I love the fact he doesn't correct her about Sayid being Iraqi.
Narliest Moment:
Sayid putting that guy on the knives in the dishwasher!
Best Cameo:
Michelle Rodriguez
I give it 5ive Stars for great action, plenty of good funny moments and dropping very intriguing hints. Keep the audience interested otherwise you'll lose them.
